6:30 – 8:30pm (4 classes)
If you are interested in getting close to your subject, then this is the class for you. You don’t need a macro lens for this class. A normal “kit” lens usually will focus as close as 5 to 8 inches away depending on brand (Canon, Nikon, Pentax, etc.). Point & Shoots usually have a macro lens built in and sometimes a “super macro” setting as well. This would allow you to get as close as an inch away. If you have a macro lens, by all means, bring it to shoot with. A tripod is key for successful Macro/Close-Up photography. Bring reflectors and speedlites if you have them as well.
Focus, aperture selection and composition are huge elements when approaching Macro/Close-Up photography. All this is covered exhaustively in this class. Your choice of subjects to photograph is anything you want. In class, we will cover some of the usual subjects such as botanicals, insects, household/kitchen/workshop items, and more! There is plenty of “how to” instruction and you’ll be shooting weekly during class time. Practice outside of class is highly recommended. You will also have to email me a couple of your best class images weekly for comment. Sounds like fun to me.
