Personable Portraits of Loved Ones with Sarah Hirsch
Wednesdays, November 6, 13, December 4, 11, 3:00PM – 6:00PM (4 Classes)
Paint or draw a portrait of someone you love and know well – what could be scary about that? Portraits often get a bad rep for being “hard” because we care so much about the people we’re painting. We want to get the sparkle in their eyes, the tilt of the head, their personality. In this class, we’ll work together to demystify the process of portraits. Students will bring their choice of paint or drawing materials (oils, acrylics, watercolor, gouache, chalk or oil pastel!) and some reference photos to work from. We’ll discuss what makes great portraiture, and apply the artistic principles of composition, focus, line, texture, and that dynamic spark that bring portraits to life.
