Painting for me began with various classes in all art forms as a way to unwind after a day of working with handicapped young children in a hospital setting. As I approached retirement, I took adult classes at RISD, attended workshops at local galleries, studied with several local artists and began drifting toward watercolor as my primary media. I credit my years of study with Cindy Baron as the inspiration to continue with watercolor and pursue exhibiting my work in local galleries and venues.

I also credit my family of artists, my mom, Doris Pearson, who exhibited both oil and watercolor at shows throughout New England (including Wickford); my uncle, Walter Youngberg, a RISD graduate and designer for Gorham; my cousin Deborah Lindsey, a local freelance artist; my grandfather, Erik Youngberg, an oil painter, jewelry designer, wood worker, metal smith and tool and dye maker who taught me to appreciate the artistry in a variety of mediums.

Currently, I am a member of Wickford Art Association and South County Art Association and serve as a volunteer on various committees for both . I have exhibited at local libraries, South Kingstown Guild, South County Hospital, art association juried shows, and small galleries in Warwick and East Greenwich.
