FREE LIKE A BUTTERFLY

Description: The overall expression of my mural is a feeling that North Kingstown has a long natural history. The geographical location surrounded by the sea makes the climate here habitable. I chose to use butterflies to form another part of the sailboat to express that when driving the sailboat of “life”, I also want to feel the world freely like a butterfly. The ocean took over the “ship” from the “past” and supported it, representing the beginning of a new journey. A lot of wave textures are used in the background of the work because I grew up around the ocean and carried it through my life. Coming here from the East, the new environment and everything new made me grow a lot, so the colors on the left side of the picture are more mature and delicate. The color contrast on the right is also my previous struggle in life choices. I can be a fish in the sea or a butterfly anchored. I want to be whoever I want here.
Biography: I come from Dalian, Northeast China, a place that is very similar to Rhode Island. It is surrounded by the sea on three sides and has four distinct seasons. Because I am very introverted, sitting by the sea and listening to the sound of the waves is my way to relax. I first came into contact with art when I was in the fourth grade of elementary school, and I learned sketching and color at that time. My dream is to be a fashion designer. My design style is influenced by John Galliano. The 1998 Dior Spring and Summer Haute Couture is a show I like very much. Recently, I have also set the goal of entering RISD/KSU. At the same time, I am also learning photography by myself enjoying the way of photography while feeling the nature. My mother likes desserts, so I also bake some desserts.
