I’ve been a member for 3 years.
Do you currently volunteer?
I do – I started as a gallery sitter. I’m now on the board, and volunteer for events like our upcoming YArt sale in October.
How long have you been a JAM?
I have been a JAM for just about a year.
How would you describe your artwork?
Exuberantly colorful, semi-abstract loose watercolors.
From where do you find your inspiration?
The interplay of light and color.
What is the most important thing that you want viewers to take away from your artwork?
The sense of joy with which it was created!
What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
Values are the key to everything. I’m still learning how to achieve this consistently.
What is the most important skill you should have as an artist?
A resilient spirit willing to experiment, explore and learn without being too hard on yourself.
What is your favorite thing about the Wickford Art Association/ about being a member/Favorite Beach, Food, Restaurant?
The WAA is such a friendly place – and so much talent is present in the membership which translates to our gallery exhibitions. My favorite beach – is every beach. I haven’t met one I didn’t like in some way. My favorite restaurant is my mother in law’s kitchen. She’s a fantastic cook.
What do you enjoy most about your artistry/being an artist?
It’s good for the mind, body and soul.
Do you have any upcoming shows?
I have a busy summer and fall planned. First is the amazing Wickford Arts Festival (which is hosted by WAA) this coming weekend. Next: Town of Mystic’s Outdoor Art Festival August 8 & 9 ; Olde Mistick Village Art Show September 5-7; Stonington borough Art Walk Sept 12; Scituate Art Festival October 10-12; and the WAA Fall Invitational at Gooseneck Vineyard Oct 24 & 25.
