My major in college was Art Education but my career was in business. After years in business and raising a family I decided to get serious about painting. I had always taken art classes through the years and stayed active in the art community. I now had the time to devote to my passion. My environment influences my paintings. I like to capture the vivid colors and details of natural beauty. I’m an avid gardener and for me nature and the amazing structure of plants inspire me the most. I strive to paint my subjects in a more realistic manner but with an emphasis on color exaggeration. I work in all mediums but prefer watercolor. It seems to lend itself to the depiction of the intricacies of plant structure, shape and shadow. Landscapes are another favorite subject and are usually paintings from my travels.
