Where do you live?

Middletown

How long have you been a member of WAA?

I have been a member of WAA since 2019

Do you currently volunteer at WAA?

Volunteer gallery sitting, set up for Arts Festival and currently serve on 2 committees.

How long have you been a JAM?

I have been a JAM member since 2021

How would you describe your artwork?

I am a plein air artist at heart and use a fair amount of palette knife in my work. I like the textures and somewhat abstract nature that compliments my brush strokes.

From where do you find your inspiration?

I find my inspiration from nature and really try to paint in the moment. Not necessarily painting precisely what I observe, but to try to convey the feeling of the day.

What is the most important thing that you want viewers to take away from your artwork?

I just want them to enjoy one of my paintings and maybe it invokes a memory from the past.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

Not to cherish a painting so much. Push yourself to new limits and take a chance to make it an even stronger statement.

What is the most important skill you should have as an artist?

The most important skill you should have as an artist is to be open-minded whether it’s the approach of a painting and to observe fully what you are painting.

What is your favorite thing about the Wickford Art Association?

My favorite thing about the WAA are the people, whether it’s the staff, volunteers, or the people coming through and enjoying the gallery. It’s a very welcoming environment. Favorite beach is Narragansett beach because the waves remind me of my childhood days of jumping waves at Hampton Beach in NH. My favorite food is Sushi and my favorite restaurant is Mama Luisa’s on lower Thames. It’s like eating really good Italian food at a friend’s house.

What do you enjoy most about your artistry/being an artist?

I enjoy how painting relaxes me mentally, and having a great studio space really lets me focus on being creative.

Do you have any upcoming shows?

Our mill of artists will be having an Open Studio show on June 7, 8, where the public can come purchase some tax free art or just take a browse around our historic mill.
