My first formal art education included lessons in drawing and painting at the Tonoff Art Gallery in Providence. I went on to earn my degree and teacher certifications from the University of Rhode Island and taught Art for over 35 years at the secondary level. Since retirement in 2009, I have continued my art endeavors and occasional teaching. I have taken many workshops including portraiture with Daniel E. Greene, Chinese watercolor with Lian Quan Zhen and Won Ok Park, Portraiture with Paul Leveille, as well as graduate level classes at RISD, RIC and URI. I have taught many workshops and classes in Rhode Island and Florida and I’m scheduled to teach two workshops at the Center of the Arts in Bonita Springs during the winter of 2026.Professional affiliations include Rhode Island Watercolor Society, New England Watercolor Society, Wickford Art Association, South County Art Association and the Pastel Society of America. I have exhibited in numerous juried shows and have received many awards. Solo exhibits include the University of Rhode Island Graduate School of Oceanography, Coastal Institute. Presently, I have a solo exhibit at Bartone’s jewelry and gallery in Wakefield, RI. My artwork can be found in many collections and publications including a portrait of Maury Loontjens at the Narragansett Pier Library; State Offices of Rhode Island; Rare Disease Foundation “Beyond the Diagnosis” publications and exhibits; “A Watercolor a Day” by Oscar Asensio, Promopress Publishers; Portrait of the founder of Aikido, O’Sensei Morihei Ueshiba, prints have been sold in US, Asia and Europe.
