
Christine Tullson Mathieu was born in Providence, RI. She is a contemporary plein air artist. Her original watercolors and oils are painted on location throughout New England.
Exhibitions: Christine has participated in numerous juried exhibitions at several art associations and museums including: Providence Art Club, Newport Art Museum, Attleboro Art Museum, Wickford Art Association, and Westport Art Group. She has also participated in several fundraising auctions including: Newport Art Museum WET PAINT!, Channel 36, Gilbert Stuart Museum, Audubon Society of Rhode Island, Volunteer Center of Rhode Island, Forbes House Museum, Paint the Port, Kennybunkport, Laudholm Farm’s Painterly Day, and Make a Wish Foundation. Christine participated in juried plein air festivals, including Ocean Park, ME, Castin, ME, and Blackstone Valley, MA. Christine traveled to Bermuda in November 2017 and October 2019 to participate in the international plein air events.

Affiliations: Christine is an artist member of the Wickford Art Association and Westport Art Group.
Education: Christine studied drawing with Antonio Dattorro from 1968-71 in Providence. She received a B.A. in Art Studio and a B.A. in Elementary Education from URI in 1975.She studied watercolor, Fantasy Illustration, and Children’s Book Illustration at RISD from 1980-84. In 1994, Christine was granted a sabbatical leave from the Providence School Department to study Art History, Anthropology, and Painting at RIC.
