Where do you live?

I live in Cumberland, Rhode Island, a couple of houses away from Wrentham Stateline but spend a lot of time in the South County area.

My passion and dedication for the arts has evolved over the last thirty (30) years.  My painting began with decorative arts studying with the late Mary McLean, Norfolk, MA, Leah Lopez, NYC and Anthony Tomaselli, Providence Art Club, participating in numerous workshops and then onto private lessons with Kelly McCullough at the Providence Art Club.

How long have you been a member?

I have been a member of the Wickford Art Association since 2014.

Do you currently volunteer?

No but I participate in various exhibits.  I was the President of the Wickford Art Association from 2015-2018.

How long have you been a JAM?

Since 2019.

How would you describe your artwork?

My focus has been still life in oils (glass, silver, metals, pottery items and fruit) and expanded into florals over the last few years.  I am influenced by many artists painting in traditions of the old masters and classical representation on canvas.  I believe in creating realism through my own interpretation of color, light and dark, composition and design.

From where do you find your inspiration?

I am inspired by so many artists and their various methods; however, I enjoy exploring antiques, miscellaneous items, mismatch items and my gardens are a big inspiration to me.  I am an avid gardener and continue to love the color, variety and unique opportunities flowers offer an artist.

What is the most important thing that you want viewers to take away from your artwork?

An appreciation of my color palette, composition, selection of colors, anticipation of high level of shine in my paintings.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

Continue to grow, take classes and workshops and network with other artists while sharing helpful hints with newer artists.

What is the most important skill you should have as an artist?

Concentrated effort on drawing, understanding the importance of darks and lights (value) and have fun!!

What is your favorite thing about the Wickford Art Association/ about being a member/Favorite Beach, Food, Restaurant?

I enjoy the welcoming atmosphere at the gallery; the classes are wonderful and always helpful and being a part of this inspiring community.

What do you enjoy most about your artistry/being an artist?

Networking with other artists, exhibiting, sharing and exchanging ideas and  selling art.
