Fearless Color: Relaxed Watercolor Mixing with Victoria Bishop

Sundays April 26 and May 3 from 1:00 – 4:00 PM (2 classes)

Intermediate

Class Description: Watercolor mixing can feel mysterious—even intimidating. In this relaxed, hands‑on two‑session workshop, students learn how to mix clean, luminous color without fear of creating “mud.” We explore warm and cool color bias, chromatic neutrals, and limited palette strategies in a flexible, approachable way. The class emphasizes curiosity over perfection and gives painters practical tools they can immediately apply to their own work.

Course Objectives: • Understand pigment bias and how it affects watercolor mixing • Mix clean secondary and tertiary colors intentionally • Create luminous neutrals without using black • Control warm and cool color shifts for depth and harmony • Design a small personal palette for cohesive painting • Complete small color studies applying new mixing confidence

Materials Provided by Instructor ($10 fee): • Pre‑printed mixing grids • Pre‑cut watercolor paper for exercises and studies • Demonstrations and reference examples • Limited pigment set for experimentation • Water containers • Brushes
