3-D Paper Making with Lisa May Tobin
Mondays May 26, June 2, 9 from 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM (3 classes)
Have you ever wanted to create a sculpture, but bronze, stone, or metal weren’t materials readily available?! In this workshop, you will be able to realize your dream of making a 3-dimensional artwork using a strong, flexible, light, and totally usable medium, which is paper! When I say paper I really mean plant fibers, in this case cotton and abaca(from the banana plant family!). We will explore the history of papermaking and the artistic applications of the medium and learn the basics of sheet forming. We will build our armatures that will support the handmade paper. We will be applying the sheets of handmade paper to our sculpture. And finally, it will be time to add the finishing touches, such as paint and decorative materials, to enhance and complete our sculptures.
