Join Sam Allerton Green in the charming coastal village of Wickford, RI, for a 3-day plein air painting workshop designed to support and inspire your creative practice. Rather than emphasizing strict technique, this workshop will explore the methods and mindset that lead to a rewarding and sustainable plein air experience—one that can meaningfully inform your work back in the studio.
Through thoughtful demonstrations, daily painting sessions, and group critiques, you’ll learn how to simplify your setup, respond intuitively to your environment, and develop habits that help you stay present, productive, and creatively engaged outdoors. We’ll focus on deobjectifying the landscape—shifting away from labeling “things” and instead seeing abstract shapes and relationships. This approach encourages a deeper connection to the moment and a more honest response to what you’re actually seeing, not just what you think you’re seeing.
