SUMMARY:Textile Shibori Designs with Ann Bianchi
DESCRIPTION:Textile Shibori Designs with Ann Bianchi \nSaturday\, March 21 10:00AM–2:00PM (1 class\, 4 hours with a lunch break) \nFabrics from natural cellulose fibers (cottons\, linens and silks) will be our “canvases” as we experiment with historical and cultural resist methods. Working in the styles of Japanese Arashi Shibori and Itajime Shibori\, we’ll add colorants from liquid acrylics to white cloth for fantastic results.  Beautifully prepared cloth will be matted in class and prepared for framing as a piece of art.  In this workshop Ann will provide multiple demonstrations and guidance as students work together on each method while also enjoying some historical cultural information shared during demonstrations. Use different fabric sizes in the workshop and note the various effects.  Be prepared to be amazed with your results\, have fun and witness colors merging onto the textiles as they take on a life of their own!   No prior experience needed. In the first class\, we’ll either freehand the portrait with pencil onto white cotton fabric or trace an enlarged copy. You can choose from portraits in styles like Cubism\, Impressionism\, Abstract Art\, Expressionism or any you prefer. Then paint your portrait with acrylic paints and add additions such as buttons\, beads and other creations to make it uniquely yours! DESCRIPTION:Oil Pastels for Abstract and Realistic Styles with Ann Bianchi \nSaturdays August 2\, 9 from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM (2 classes) \nEnjoy working with the freedom of an Abstract or Realistic style using luminous effects and colors of Oil Pastels – the art material which allows you to apply as a drawing and blend for painterly results. Working with stick pastels we’ll first  practice application and color blending methods which are traditional to the material. We’ll then work together sampling textural techniques to enhance our art plans. The objects and photos we bring to class will inspire us with their textures\, colors\, and line shapes.We’ll develop a plan then work on our unique art. DESCRIPTION:Sundays June 22\, 29 from 10:00AM- 1:00PM (2 Classes)  \nLet the colors flow and bring your special style to class .We will focus on your favorite photo of landscape or urban theme using colors and review perspective techniques. We will be creating with some traditional methods and materials\, then venture into some textural techniques\, using tips and ideas with surprising results. There will be color mixing\, value practice\, drawing lessons\, and plenty of sampling throughout the class with personal instructions to enhance your art. We’ll work from a mix of natural local items focusing on textures and details but with a free and loose style. Enjoy creating variety in this class.
