While learning the ins and outs of Procreate\, students will be using reference art from some of the best artists in the video game and entertainment industry (by permission of the artists). Once they have a handle on the basics\, they will start creating their own art with their own developing style. It’s Terry’s goal to help students learn the ins and outs of drawing digitally with Procreate and then take them down the path of their own creativity and imagination. DESCRIPTION:Mondays September 16\, 23\, 30\, 10:00AM- 12:00PM (3 Classes) \nWelcome to the meditative art of hand sewing! This workshop will explore different slow stitch techniques inspired by American quilting traditions\, Kantha and Japanese Boro. \nLearn about the materials\, tools and techniques used in slow stitch; as well as how to select fabrics\, threads and embellishments to build texture and dimension by layering materials. We will develop ideas for with working with vintage and reclaimed textiles. Textile art is\, by nature\, a slow meditative process. During this class you will create a unique and personal art work\, and hopefully be inspired to continue to develop your slow stitch practice. We will create a unique 9” x 12” textile art work suitable for framing or mounting. All skill levels are welcome to participate. DESCRIPTION:Saturday July 27 (1 Class)\,  9:30AM – 3:00PM          \nThis Shibori workshop highlights fundamental techniques for the creative\, colorful\, and historical Japanese art of textile dyeing and design. Enjoy designing with many creative resist methods ( to control the flow of the dye) including:\, folding & clamping\, resist blocks\, stitching\, pole wrapping & tying\, starbursts\, corner dipping\, and free styles for Shibori designs. Ann’s  demonstrations and many samples of completed work will guide you for each method. Be prepared to be amazed with your results\, have fun and witness colors merging as they take on a life of their own. Work with varieties of natural fabrics\, and many colorants for beautiful outcomes.  No prior experience needed.  Create favorite styles multiple times.  The material fee covers all supplies including natural fabrics\, dyes and colorants\, gloves\, and all tools necessary for this workshop. DESCRIPTION:Wednesdays July 17\, 24\, 31 (3 Classes)  9:30AM-11:30AM                                        \nEnjoy creating a repeatable image with a rubber block that you will be able to take home with you and use over and over in this introduction to block printing class. You will be carving an image into a soft rubber block\, inking the block the color of your choice\, and then printing it onto papers. You will be able to use these images as a stand alone artwork or use it to enhance other art works. It is a great skill to add to your artistic tool. DESCRIPTION:Mondays\, January 8\, 15\, 22\, and 29th- 9:00AM – 12:00PM (4 Classes) \nDegas said that drawing is the artist’s most direct and spontaneous expression. It’s challenging\, mindful and the foundation of visual art. In this class we will use contour line to help us better “see” our subjects and then focus on the use value to describe how light and shadows help us to get to the core of a subject. We’ll observe and draw using pencil and charcoal\, a variety of materials like paper\, wood\, porcelain\, metal\, glass and natural objects\, all of which reflect light differently. Our emphasis will be on representation from direct observation\, learning how to use mark making and shading to create form\, texture and a sense of space.
