DESCRIPTION:Winter Wonderland: The Enchanted Landscape with Shane Gutierrez \nSundays\, Jan 11 (on-site at WAA)\, Jan 18\, 25\, Feb 1\, 8 (off-site/locations TBA) 2026 from 9:30 am – 12:00 pm (5 classes) \nWinter is a beautiful time of year for the photographer who is willing to get outdoors and brave the cold conditions. The land is reduced to its simplest form\, especially under a blanket of snow. Although I can’t guarantee the ground will be covered with snow\, there is a good chance it will be in January & February. The cold brings a pureness to the country that can be seen in the bare trees\, stark rock formations and the color of the ocean. This allows the photographer to capture clean lines and simple compositions. \nComposition rules will be covered as well as how to dress properly for the cold. Preparing yourself and your equipment along with understanding proper exposure on snowy days are all part of this class. With five weeks to work with\, I allow for one classroom session (1st class) and four “in the field” sessions. The outdoor classes will be weeks 2\, 3\, 4\, & 5. I have locations in mind that leaves it up to you on how much time (short\, medium or long doses) you will want to spend outside the car. If you get cold\, you’ll always be near enough to the parking area to jump into a warm car to take the chill off. \nFor anyone with plenty of spring\, summer\, and fall pictures looking to fill in that winter gap in your landscape portfolio\, or for those who love the wintertime\, this class will give you that kick in the pants to get out beyond your driveway and the confidence you need to overcome your fear of a cold and drab landscape and see the landscape for what it is\, a winter wonderland. \n$175 Members | $205 Non-members \nCLASS REGISTRATION – CURRENT MEMBERS \nCLASS REGISTRATION – NON-MEMBERS

Whether you love working with rich colors or quiet tones\, this class offers a welcoming environment to learn foundational techniques such as layout drawing with pastel\, color blending\, layering for depth\, creating smooth gradients\, and building texture through expressive mark-making. Ann will provide guided instructions and demonstrations. Through hands-on practice with oil\, chalk\, and pencil pastels you’ll choose your favorites and work from still life arrangements and/or your own photographs you bring. You’ll begin with practice techniques and complete your own unique work of art. All experience levels are welcome. What gives it that special something that stops you in your tracks? Working with different frameworks of Dynamics and Movement\, we will energize your pieces and give them depth\, interest\, and story. In this intermediate-advanced oil painting class\, students will each bring their own inspiration and then through guided exercises and instruction we will explore new elements of theory and composition\, including: line\, focus\, contrast\, variation\, flow\, motifs and more.
