SUMMARY:Nature of Nests with Betsey MacDonald
DESCRIPTION:Nature of Nests with Betsey MacDonald \nSaturday June 28th\, 10:00AM – 2:00PM (1 class) \nDrawing is the bedrock of artistic practice! For this adult class we’ll carefully study and draw nests. Using graphite or more simply\, pencil\, we’ll learn about subtractive or reductive drawing. We’ll gain an understanding of setting a ground and erasing highlights to create an image as well as building it up with marks. We will complete a detailed study of the amazing texture and interweaving of grasses\, sticks and other found items in nests. We’ll look at the contrast between light and shadow and focus on negative spaces within a nest. Through observation and the use of graphite\, we’ll learn to really look at some of nature’s most exquisite handiwork as we create our own art and realize that nests are works of art as well. As Aristotle said\, “In all things in nature there is something of the marvelous” and few things are as marvelous as bird’s nests! \n$80 Members| $110 Non Members \nCLASS REGISTRATION – CURRENT MEMBERS \nCLASS REGISTRATION – NON-MEMBERS

DESCRIPTION:The Art of Painting with Alcohol Inks with Mary Wojciechowski  \nSaturday\, April 12- 10:00AM–3:00PM (1 Class) \nAlcohol inks\, highly pigmented and quick drying\, differ from other fluid mediums as they flow\, intermingle and create distinctive textures\, often with unexpected results. One of the benefits of painting with alcohol inks is the opportunity to begin with an abstract composition and then\, as the alcohol evaporates and the ink pools\, to see the possibility of adding realistic floral elements. \nArtists with any experience are welcomed. \n$95 Members | $125 Non-Members $7 Materials Fee \nCLASS REGISTRATION – CURRENT MEMBERS \nCLASS REGISTRATION – NON-MEMBERS
