Tonal Landscape with Claire Marschak
Saturday February 8 from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM (1 Class)
Tonalism was an artistic style that emerged in the 1880s when American artists began to paint landscapes with an overall neutral hue. Regional landscape painter Claire will guide you through brush techniques, paint application and removal, using only 2 colors of oil paint. Our inspiration is a view from a Block Island Greenway trail with billowing clouds and rustic stone walls. Using thin washes, loose brushy strokes and wiping out will create a strong underpainting with focus on values and composition.
