Serti refers to a watercolor style of painting on white silk using colorful dyes and “resist” techniques. Our silk fabrics will be supported over stretcher bars as we design and add the dyes.  Choose items for design inspiration or work from your photographs, imagery can be abstract or realistic. After your designs are drawn on pattern paper, they are transferred to the silk fabric where “resist” lines in clear, black, or metallic are applied using a small applicator bottle. Serti dyes are painted, and latter set in by steaming or solutions, allowing the item to be dry-cleaned or washed. Come prepared to have fun and let the colors flow with permanent textile dyes and fabric mediums.  The elegant textures of the art materials create unique and interesting designs. Paint a silk scarf or silk fabric, which may become a wall hanging.  Samples of completed work will be introduced. No prior experience needed. All skills are welcome.
