Gail Armstrong got an Honorable Mention in the Cape Cod Art Association’s National Open Juried Show in July. In May, Jillian Barber had 3 pieces accepted into the Artist Cooperatives of Westerly, RI. One sculpture, "Botanical Jardinière," received the Teddy Goberif Award for Excellence in Ceramics. A B&W photograph, "Rosamunda," was accepted into the 97th Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts exhibit at the Mystic Art Center. In the Portsmith Arts Guild Open Juried Show, "Chrysanthemum" clay mask received 3rd prize & "Among Thorns"& the photo"BMW" received honorable mentions. Lorraine Bromley has been accepted into the Art League of Rhode Island as an artist member, 2008. Her piece "Violet Roots" was accepted into Attleboro Museum’s "Out of the Blue" exhibit. Alice Benvi Gebhart had a fused glass work accepted into "Out of the Blue," Attleboro Arts Museum’s national juried exhibit in July. Sandra DeSano Pezzullo’s oil painting "Ascendant Outlook" was accepted into The Cape Cod Art Association’s July "National Show" & awarded an honorable mention in oil/acrylic. Paula Dewell will join Jane Puerini, Johanna McKenzie & Danna Brackenbury for a four-person exhibition at the Spring Bull Gallery in Newport thru September 30th. The opening reception is Saturday, 9/6, 5-7 pm. Theresa Girard will teach COLLAGE LIKE CRAZY!, a one-day workshop, Saturday 10/25, 9am-2pm, at the Peace Dale Guild. No experience necessary, $45. Her exhibit, "calamiTEE," will take place in September at the Back Yard Card Gallery in Narragansett; opening Friday, 9/5, 6-8pm. Susan Graefe had two photographs accepted in the Portsmouth Arts Guild’s 2nd Annual Juried Photography Show thru Sept 2. Showing are "Bay Swim Partners" & "Glacial Chasm." "Asparaguise"& "Stowaway" were accepted in Open Juried Art Annual exhibit at the South County Art Association in July. Dorcas P. Greene’s painting "Reverie" was accepted into the 52nd Regional Show at Mystic Arts Center, thru 9/21. Roger Carl Johanson’s photos were accepted into the following shows: Crybaby Art Gallery, Asbury Park, NJ, thru 9/3, "Nude w / Mirror # 2;" Norwich Art Council, Norwich, CT in August, "Large stoneware vase;" 52nd Regional, Mystic Art Center, Mystic, CT thru 9/21, "Field of Dreams." Kathi Kolb’s photo "Raft" was accepted into SCAA’s spring All-Media Open Juried Show & "Tree Muscles" was accepted into its Open Juried Art Annual this summer. Marian O’Connell won the Joseph Gaultieri Prize Award at the 52nd Regional Show at Mystic Arts Center for her handmade book with 11 etchings "Walls, Gates and Fences." The show runs thru 9/21; "Melting Snow," an etching, was accepted in the National Association of Women Artists 119th Annual Exhibition held at Goggle Works, Reading, PA, running thru 9/28. Trish O’Day had her photos accepted in South County Art Association’s Annual Photo Show & its Open Art Annual. Joe Pitocco recently received 1st place in the Providence Journal Photo Contest with "Providence Power Plant." He recently graduated from the Certificate Program in Digital Photography from RISD & took part in the show "Summer Beginnings" at Pegasus Art and Frame in Smithfield, RI in July. Ann Marie Scartabello has been juried into Hope Gallery in Bristol & began showing her work in May. Hiroko Shikashio’s work was accepted into the "Written Word" Open Juried Exhibition at the Mystic Art Center & the Connecticut Fine Arts Academy 96th Annual Exhibition Show, both held this summer. She received "the best in photography" award at South County Art Association’s 81st Members Annual Exhibit. The show runs thru 8/31. Beverly Silva had two pieces accepted into the Pawtucket Arts Collaborative Annual Open Juried Exhibit. The show runs through November 1 at the PAC Gallery, 175 Main St., Pawtucket; opening reception is September 11, 5:30 -7:00. Donna St Amant won an Honorable Mention in the 2nd Annual Portsmouth Art Guild Photography Show with her photograph "Pier on Cherry & Webb Lane." Frances Topping will display of botanicals, landscapes & still lifes at the Cross Mills Library in Charlestown, RI thru August 29th. Visit www.crossmills.org for info. Marjorie Vogel, who died a year ago, was inducted into the Heritage Hall of Fame. Eric Wertherimer will participate in the SCAA’s Members Invitational, 9/25-10/18. He won "Best Floral Work" for "Evolution of a Butterfly Weed" in SCAA’s Members Show.
