She has been an artist in residence at the Millay Colony in
upstate New York, Skowhegan School of Art in Maine, and New
Urban Arts in Providence. Her collaborative work has been

Introduction. She has received grants from The Michigan
State Council on the Arts, Bronx Council for the Arts, Rhode
Island Sate Council on the Arts, and a New Works Grant from
The Rhode Island Foundation. Her work has been honored with
an education award from the Rhode Island Historical
Preservation and Heritage Commission and a Clearwater Award
from The Waterfront Center in Washington DC. She is a
founding member of Voices and Visions of Village Life an
organization that initiates and supports creative
humanities/arts projects with adults and children in
Pawtuxet Village and other communities.
As a community artist her
main goal is to enable others to explore, reflect on and
visually respond to personal stories and share those with
others. Her community practice continues to evolve -- from
teaching in a variety of settings, to a process she calls
visual dialogue and recently to public art. For the past
four years her community projects have been collaborations
with folklorist Michael Bell focusing on Pawtuxet Village
where they both live. The exploration of sites such as
Pawtuxet Village as spaces with multiple layers of history
and human relationship with the natural environment is part
of her ongoing research for artwork.
